Erica Sunshine Lee releases 9th album “BULLETPROOF” on 4.20.20!!! Featuring her brand new single “Change the World,” inspiring girls and women of all ages to dream big, make a difference, and never give up, no matter your age, background, or limitations. “Groove at it” brings a great message to shake off the small things in life and dance away your blues, being grateful for what we do have, instead of worrying about all the things that may go wrong. “Monday Morning Jesus” is an anthem for all believers and non-believers that need a little help to get through the tough week, especially when life isn’t going your way, it’s great to have help from friends, but especially in times where we need a Savior to intervene and keep us off of that sin wagon. “Heat Wave” is an electrifying track that brings the energy and emotion of a past love that cannot be shaken. You can literally feel the heat rising and the sultry vocals paint a picture of a love that is passionate, and although may be in the past, hits so hard that it shakes every part of you, reminiscent of an emotive and captivating Fleetwood Mac track. With a title like “Bad Bitch” raising many eyebrows and winning 2019’s Tropical Rock Music Video of the Year Award, this tale based on a true story has inspired women worldwide to own their fierceness and be independent, not letting anybody stand in the way of your dreams. “One More Time” is a catchy energetic pop country rocking anthem that will leave you longing for that person in the past, despite the pain of the relationship, and questioning going back for one more taste. The phrase “Never go to bed angry” takes a new twist in the sweet lullaby of “Goodnight Kiss,” while Sunshine’s patriotic side shines in her message to the world to “Stand Up For The Flag,” paying homage to all the American active duty and veterans. Showing off her emotional side, Lee pulls heart strings in “Maybe,” upon the realization of a relationship that is cherished, but in the end, the writing is on the wall. On the other hand, “I’d Love to Love You,” paints a vivid tug of war between following your head and your heart, doing what you want versus doing what’s right. The piano ballad “Don’t Change My Mind,” is also a tender moment showcasing the vocals of this emotional alto, bringing out the pain of going back to a place that has been both a home and a heartbreak, and deciding if the pleasure is in the end worth the pain. She picks up the mood altogether with a number on gambling by leaving behind the past and heading to sin city, where she proves wrong the old attitude “Nobody Wins In Vegas,” scoring big on the famous neon strip. Tempting a lover in “Make a Move” is such a moody song that lures you in with the familiar and haunting piano, picturing cigarettes, an opportunity and a challenge to be bold and daring. Sunshine busts out her country roots with the sassy attitude she has become known for in “Think Again,” where she leaves a mistaken lover in the dust without a second glance, and shows off the range in her raucous and raspy rock voice, but with an edge of moody blues, reminiscent of Bonnie Raitt and Tanya Tucker. She puts her foot down in “Boomerang,” with a poppy sound she shows her versatility and decides enough is enough, and doesn’t need the run around, but the melody is just as circular and brings you back and forth with the title. The grittiest of tracks is “Bullets” daring a lover to take it out on her because she is strong enough to take the abuse so they can work through the issues or call it quits, with electric guitars blazing and a darkness that could easily be a soundtrack to an adventurous chase scene in a James Bond film. One of the few sweet love songs under her belt, Erica Sunshine Lee shows off her vulnerable side and lets her guard down in “The Way You Love Me,” showing off her true country story telling roots and luring the listener in with poetic and picturesque scenery of a dreamy feel couple in love “dancing in the living room to our favorite Ryan Adams tune, I get lost in the blue in your eyes and the 1-2-3 makes me mesmerized. We’re making out on the couch til the wine makes us both pass out, I wake up and drag you to bed and you hold me like I’m your silhouette.” Wrapping up this incredible 20 track selection of a veteran songwriter, Erica Sunshine Lee offers hope to anybody who has been through heartbreak and tragedy, sending positive vibes that no matter what has come your way and caused pain, that life is going to move on, and you heal, and “hearts still beat after they break.” The final track is paying her respect to Lee’s favorite all-time band “Fleetwood Mac,” as she introduces her take on a classic favorite “Dreams,” her first song performed live in a California bar when she began her professional music career in the Bay Area in 2007, where she has relentlessly toured the globe and written over 1000 songs since that first show, and the similarities in her voice and Stevie Nicks’ reveal some of her influences along her “Bulletproof" journey.
